At present we are running a moderate health clinic facility at Gaden Shartse. In many ways it is not comparable to professionally managed clinic, but we do provide Traditional Tibetan treatment and regular allopathic treatment.

Tibetan medicine is indigenously developed art of healing in Tibet. It is conventionally known as alternative medicine in many countries. Tibetan medicine have its specialty, hence it is very effective in specific cases. In general Tibetan medicine is known to be holistic medicine, so the way it benefits patient is very different from the allopathic approach.

Instead of employing full time doctors and wasting lot of resources on it, we initiated a Health Security Plan, which is practical and very helpful to the patients and is maintenance free. Under this plan, we pay medical bills of the monks depending on the condition of the patients. We treat minor ailments at our clinic, for that we have a visiting doctor who visits us once a week. This is better than not having a doctor at all, but employing a full time doctor is not feasible to our clinic at this stage. Since there are plenty of well-equipped clinics and hospitals around the monastery, we help to send our monks to those places to treat major health problems and pay their medical bills.

We wish to expand and improve the present Health Security Plan; therefore we seek support from devotees and friends. While we pay medical bills of the monks rather than treating them in our own clinic, it is also important to maintain a moderate  clinic with basic facilities, thus we also need regular supply of medicines and a visiting doctor.
